Sir Rod Stewart Says He’s ‘in The Clear’ After Cancer Diagnosis
Sir Rod Stewart has been given the all-clear after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The rock legend made the revelation at a fundraising event on Saturday.
“No-one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests,” he said, according to The Mirror.
The 74-year-old was speaking at an event for the Prostate Project and golf’s European Tour Foundation.
He joked to wife Penny Lancaster that he was going to use the evening to “come out”, adding: “It’s not what you think. Two years ago I was Âdiagnosed with prostate cancer.”
He said: “If you’re positive, and you work through it and you keep a smile on your face⦠I’ve worked for two years and I’ve just been happy, and the good Lord looked after me.”

What To Know About Prostate Cancer Screening

It was a truly special occasion at Wentworth Club on Saturday September 14, as Jones, Stewart and Wood all took to the stage for a one-off performance prior to the main fundraising event an auction which featured some memorable artefacts and experiences.
The Prostate Project is a charity close to Jones heart, the former drummer of the Small Faces and The Who having been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2013, while Stewart also discussed his battle with prostate cancer on the night.
It was an incredibly humbling and heart-warming experience to host the BMW PGA Championship Gala Dinner and raise so much money for a charity to which I owe a huge amount, said Jones. The fund-raising effort on the night was immense and the evening helped create more awareness for the incredible work the Prostate Project does day-in, day-out.

He successfully went through a prostatectomy surgery on July 5th, 2020, which removed the cancer. In addition, he had an appendectomy after a tumor was discovered on his appendix. Its been a draining year, I cant deny it, but Im delighted to have come through it. I feel like Ive had the most thorough MOT that a Metal God can have.

Over 10,000 men die of prostate cancer every year in the UK and Im excited to be doing something that may help save a life.
James Beeby, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK added: Every hour one man like Matt loses his life to the disease here in the UK. And 42,000 men are diagnosed every single year. What better or more generous way to celebrate Matts life than by his mates getting together for a Men United jam.
Stuart grew up with Irving in Glasgow. Matt was my closest friend and a great guy, who was well loved in the musical community and his death touched a lot of people, he said. Hopefully through this concert in his honour, we can raise awareness a little further and go someway to saving other men from a similar fate.

Kenney Jones has led a gilded life. At 16, he was already performing as a drummer and he went on to play in three of Britain’s iconic bands: The Small Faces, The Faces and The Who.
The father-of-six lives with his second wife, Jayne, a former model, in a Surrey manor house and presides over his own polo club, where Prince Charles is a visitor.
Then, last September, he was dealt two huge blows. As he puts it: ‘My lovely mum, who was 89, was dying in hospital, and I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.’
Thankfully, his cancer was caught early. ‘Even so, it’s been a huge shock,’ says 65-year-old Kenney, ‘and I had some dark moments.’

He also had some medical luck. For in his anxiety about his mother, he’d forgotten to renew his private health insurance and ended up being treated at his local NHS hospital, the Royal Surrey in Guildford – which is the only centre in the country offering a cutting edge treatment for prostate cancer.
‘Someone was looking after me,’ he says, with an upward gaze.

INXS rock legend Kirk Pengilly has revealed his epic battle to beat a very aggressive prostate cancer.
AUSTRALIAN rock star Kirk Pengilly was about to set off on a romantic tour of New Zealand with wife champion surfer Layne Beachley when the email arrived.
It was from his doctor informing the 56-year-old that he had very aggressive prostate cancer.
We got the news the day before we flew to New Zealand for a 10-day wine and food extravaganza in February. It came in an email, Pengilly told The Daily Telegraph, still obviously shocked at the way the news was initially delivered by one Sydney specialist, who was soon replaced.
I managed to get onto him in the morning at the airport as we were leaving. I hadnt spoken to him and he said, Look, the only option is to remove the prostate.
So the whole time we were in New Zealand, every bottle of wine was my last hurrah, every meal was my last hurrah, Pengilly said from his northern beaches home. Beachley interjects: It was an emotional roller-coaster, and a mental one. I think we were both in denial for the first few days.
We visited every winery from Wellington to Auckland and had every bottle of rose.
Following the initial shock diagnosis in February, the INXS saxophonist/guitarist/singer underwent a complicated five-hour surgery in March after his surgeon informed him it was certain to spread to other organs if it wasnt taken out immediately.
I just felt so helpless, she says.

Its the final day of our Listen series celebrating all things November.
The idea of Movember is to get men talking more, about everything from mental health to prostate cancer. One conversation that is increasingly being had is of the latter, and namely why men need to find the courage to get checked.
Its one of the most common cancers for men, and with a survival rate of 84% early detection really does make a difference.
So men need to get talking, and there are a few celebrities, like Ben Stiller and Michael Parkinson, who have used their diagnosis to bring awareness to the disease. But also, the conversation needs to come amongst other men too.
Luke Campbell, a TV producer who has worked on the likes of An Idiot Abroad, was just diagnosed in October.
Because my father had it I went on the radar at the local GP, he said. So I said if I could raise £250 for Movember Id get a digital rectal exam. Having had no symptoms Luke raised the money and went for the test a prostate-specific antigen test which showed his levels were raised and he required further investigation.
I had a couple of MRIs and a biopsy in early October, he said. Luke then found out his results, but because he hadnt spoken to anyone at that point he went to the hospital alone, and was then left pretty shocked by the news. After that he decided to speak out.

Cancer doesn’t care if you’re rich and famous: Not even stars like Robert De Niro or Sir Ian McKellen are immune from the disease.
Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimates that one man in seven will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, which amounts to approximately 220,800 new cases every year. Fortunately, the disease is very treatable if found early, and in some cases the only treatment recommended is active surveillance, or watchful waiting.
