- To control symptoms, it may help to:
- Avoid or limit how you use and antihistamines during colds and allergy outbreaks as they tighten the muscles that control urine flow and make it harder to pee
- Do exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles
- Limit how much caffeine and alcohol you take in they make you pee more and can irritate your bladder
- Lower the amount of fluids you drink, especially before you go out or go to bed
- Pee when you first feel the urge because itâs easier on your bladder
- Stay warm. Cold can make it feel more urgent to pee.
Add Some Saw Palmetto To Your Diet
There is some strong correlation between saw palmetto and overall prostate health. Saw palmetto is very high in fatty acids. The specific fatty acids found in this plant can inhibit the growth of 5-alpha-reductase in the prostate gland, which converts testosterone into DHT, potentially leading to BPH and/or prostate cancer.
The easiest way to get a good daily dose of saw palmetto would be to hunt down some tablets or capsules, as you wont find it in any food. Theres also plenty of it to be found in the PROSTACET supplement , which also contains zinc, lycopene, and beta sitosterol, among many other active ingredients.

What Foods Should You Avoid If You Have An Enlarged Prostate
While the exact cause of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is not entirely understood, we do know that what you eat can have a big influence on the health of your prostate. While some foods can help to reduce the risk of developing BPH, as well as lessening the severity of your symptoms, there are others which can actually aggravate the problem including:

Foods High In Curcumin
In this case, we are talking about a spice instead of a nutrient. Thus, we do not have a long list of foods that contain curcumin. The primary source is turmeric, but you can also find curcumin as a powder in the market. Its what gives mustard its yellow color, too.
However, since the daily dose is rather high compared to what we usually have, we recommend using a supplement instead. Other ways you can increase your intake of curcumin is through one of these daily hacks:
- Turmeric smoothie: They taste great if you add whey powder, almond milk, peanut butter, and 2 tablespoons of turmeric powder.
- Turmeric salad dressing: Mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and any other spices that go along with the taste.
- Curry sauce recipes: Its an Indian sauce you can find already made in the market or do it yourself with turmeric, margarine, peanut oil, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, coriander, cilantro, chili peppers, and yogurt.

The most common forms of prostate disease are:
Prostatitis. Inflammation and swelling of the prostate. Symptoms include tenderness and pain during urination and/or ejaculation. May be caused by bacterial infection, stress or chronic inflammation.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia . Enlarged prostate gland caused by an overgrowth of cells around the prostate, which is more likely in men age 50 and older.

How Does Diet Affect Prostatitis
Diet is the cornerstone of good health, and although no single diet for prostatitis has been established, many studies have shown that certain foods and drinks can trigger symptoms.
A study in Infectious Diseases in Clinical Practice reviewed 2,385 patients with symptoms of prostatitis or the urethral syndrome.All patients were treated with a strict diet, which eliminated caffeine, alcohol, and hot, spicy foods for 12 weeks. Overall, the results showed an 87% success rate in men and an 89% success rate in women after 12 weeks of dietary treatment only.
Further, spicy foods, caffeine, and alcohol were again identified as symptom aggregators in a 2013 study. The study in the Journal of Urology found that about half of 95 CP/CPPS patients surveyed reported that certain foods and beverages aggravated their symptoms.These include spicy foods , coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages.
It was also determined that water, herbal teas, fiber, and stool softeners alleviate symptoms. Experts recommend drinking plenty of fluids and eating high-fiber foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

- Don’t drink alcohol. Alcohol increases estrogen levels.
- Opt for organic, non-GMO, wild caught, grass-fed, and pasture raised. This will help you avoid hormones in meat or dairy. And it will help you avoid pesticides. Some pesticides can mimic the effects of estrogen in the body.
- Eat lots of cruciferous vegetables. Think of things like kale, cabbage, arugula, and radish. These veggies help slow the production of estrogen. If you have a hard team eating enough of them, you can try a cruciferous concentrate.
- Take stinging nettle root. This supplement helps to keep estrogen levels down. It inhibits the enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogen in the body. It is good for reducing inflammation, as well.
