Its very helpful in the early stage of prostate cancer or in cases when it is needed to relieve pain symptoms . Such treatment is usually done 5 days a week for several weeks, depending on the condition of the patient. External beam radiation for treatment of prostate cancer has different categories of treatment, such as:

New research says men who drink coffee on a daily basis are around 20 to 60 percent less likely to develop any form of the disease with a higher intake linked to a lower risk. The men least likely to develop lethal prostate cancer were those drinking six or more cups of coffee a day, but even those drinking no more than three cups a day lowered the risk by 30 percent, the 12-year study found. “The fact that six cups or more of coffee is the secret number the key question is if I only drink one cup will it be helpful, said Dr. David Samadi, Vice Chairman, Department of Urology, The Mount Sinai Medical Center. It’s not just about the caffeine there are a lot of antioxidants that can reduce the cancer.” Learn more

Understanding High Psa Levels

ProstateCancer911.com: Redesigned For Men Struggling to ...

Digital Rectal Exams should always accompany a PSA Blood Test as they detect issues of the prostate, such as cancer, when used together. Although accurate, an elevated PSA alone does not automatically mean prostate cancer is present.

Higher PSA levels may be caused due to:

  • Older Age.
  • Extended pressure on the area from the penis to the rectum.
  • Sex within 24 hours of taking the PSA sample.
  • Urinary Tract Infection.
  • Testosterone Supplements.

Prostate Cancer Testing When Should You Start

Dr Samadi – Prostate Cancer Testimonial – Times Center 2012

If you are over the age of 45 and havent gone through a screening yet, you should do that immediately. According to the stage of your diagnosis , doctors recommend several tests that detect prostate cancer. Factors such as being African American or having a family history of prostate cancer might determine your doctor to suggest testing at an earlier age.

Both prostate examination and a PSA test should be implemented for every man over the age of 45 because a lot of the times nodules may be present in patients that scored a normal PSA test. PSA really is prostate tissue, it is fantastic that we have this test, if it goes up it may be indicative of infection, enlarged prostate or prostate cancer.

If your tests indicate abnormal modifications to your prostate you should immediately make an appointment to a specialist like Dr. David Samadi, in order to discuss treatment options in case of prostate cancer and to establish a course of action. A lot of cases dont require removal of the prostate and Dr. David Samadi M.D. is familiar with solutions that dont imply invasive surgery.

Prostate Removal Everything You Need To Know

Prostate removal and other types of prostate surgery are recommended in case of cancer, enlarged prostate, or benign prostatic hyperplasia. The prostate is a gland surrounding the neck of the bladder, which plays an important role in the male reproductive system, by releasing a fluid component of semen. Prostate removal, called radical prostatectomy, means the excision of the whole prostate, the cancer cells inside it, and some tissue around it. The disease is frequent after the age of 50 and is the most common form of cancer in American men, who resort to prostate removal and other treatment options. It often develops slowly and causes very few symptoms, but in the early stages can be treated and has very good chances for survival.

The success of the SMART technique is measured by:

Control of the urinary function

Dr David Samadis Prostate Cancer Center Offers Biomarker Diagnostic Testing For Prostate Cancer

SMART Surgery for Prostate Cancer

NEW YORK, NY World renowned robotic prostate surgeon, Dr. David Samadi, is now offering a full new suite of Biomarker Diagnostic Testing for diagnosing prostate cancer.

Dr. Samadis Prostate Cancer Center will be offering a range of diagnostic tests for assessing the risk and optimizing the diagnosis of prostate cancer to further indicate the need for a biopsy.

Were very pleased to offer these revolutionary diagnostic tests to our patients. These new testing methods are making for smarter diagnosis of prostate cancer, which then leads to the right treatment for each patient. This is a major shift in this field, especially when it comes to distinguishing between aggressive and low-grade cancers, said Dr. Samadi, Chairman of Urology and Chief of Robotic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

The game changer here is the role genetic testing plays throughout the entire process, from diagnosis to recurrence. If a mans PSA is elevated, the 4K Score, PCA3, and advanced MRI can further indicate activity around the prostate as well as support whether to get a biopsy or not.

Dr. Samadis Prostate Cancer Center will offer the following diagnostic tests:

Now that weve moved from Ultrasound to MRI, in combination with smarter diagnostic testing methods, we may actually be to able crack the code and diagnose aggressive prostate cancer earlier. And of course, this leads to the right treatment for each patient, said Dr. Samadi.

Understanding Low Psa Levels

Dr. David Samadi – Prostate Cancer & Coffee

Generally, a low PSA is a good thing and means you have no further action to take. But, even men diagnosed with prostate cancer can have lower levels of PSA due to dilution.

Lower PSA levels may be caused due to:

  • Being overweight or obese .
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • Cholesterol decreasing drugs.

If either test shows abnormal results, further testing such as a biopsy will be needed to identify whether prostate cancer exists. If both screening formats provide positive normal results, you should continue to get tested for prostate cancer every year as part of a comprehensive physical examination.

*The PSA test and DRE should be done concurrently to increase the accuracy of prostate cancer diagnosis and enable early prostate cancer treatment.
