Will I Have Withdrawal Symptoms If I Stop Taking Casodex
Withdrawal symptoms are negative side effects that can sometimes happen if you stop taking a drug that your body has come to depend on. Stopping Casodex wont cause withdrawal symptoms.
However, in certain situations your doctor might ask you to stop taking Casodex in order to cause an effect called anti-androgen withdrawal. In this case, stopping Casodex actually improves your prostate cancer, rather than causing withdrawal symptoms.
This treatment approach is not right for everyone. If your doctor thinks Casodex has stopped working for you, talk with them about whether stopping treatment could benefit you.

What Other Information Should I Know
Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory. Your doctor will order certain lab tests to check your body’s response to bicalutamide.
Do not let anyone else take your medication. Ask your pharmacist any questions you have about refilling your prescription.
It is important for you to keep a written list of all of the prescription and nonprescription medicines you are taking, as well as any products such as vitamins, minerals, or other dietary supplements. You should bring this list with you each time you visit a doctor or if you are admitted to a hospital. It is also important information to carry with you in case of emergencies.
How Should I Take Casodex
Take Casodex exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose.
Casodex is usually taken once per day in the morning or evening.
Take the medicine at the same time each day, with or without food.
LHRH is given as an injection or a tiny implant injected through a needle under the skin around your navel. LHRH injections are given at intervals such as once every 4 weeks. Follow your doctor’s instructions.
You should not stop using Casodex unless your doctor tells you to.
You will need frequent medical tests.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

How Should This Medicine Be Used
Bicalutamide comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken with or without food once a day, either in the morning or evening. Take bicalutamide at around the same time every day. You should begin taking bicalutamide on the same day you begin injecting the luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take bicalutamide exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Bicalutamide along with the luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone may help stop the growth and spread of cancer cells but does not cure prostate cancer. Continue to take both bicalutamide and the luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone even if you feel better. Do not stop taking these medications without talking to your doctor.
Qu Es Casodex Y Para Qu Se Utiliza

Le rapport bénéfice/risque d’un traitement par CASODEX n’est pasfavorable chez les patients atteints d’un cancer de la prostate austade localisé .
Le bicalutamide est essentiellement métabolisé par le foie. Desdonnées indiquent que son élimination peut être ralentie en casd’insuffisance hépatique sévère, ce qui pourrait entrainer uneaugmentation de l’accumulation du bicalutamide. En conséquence, lebicalutamide doit être utilisé avec prudence en cas d’insuffisancehépatique modérée à sévère. Une surveillance régulière de lafonction hépatique doit être envisagée en raison de la possibilitéd’altérations hépatiques.
La plupart des modifications surviennent au cours des 6 premiersmois du traitement par le bicalutamide.
Dans de rares cas, des perturbations hépatiques sévères et desinsuffisances hépatiques ont été observées sous traitement par lebicalutamide, et des issues fatales ont été rapportées . Le traitement par lebicalutamide doit être arrêté en cas de modifications hépatiquessévères.
Chez les patients présentant une progression objective de lamaladie avec un taux de PSA élevé, l’arrêt du traitement par lebicalutamide doit être envisagé.
Dans de rares cas, des atteintes pulmonaires de typepneumopathies interstitielles ont été observées sous traitement parle bicalutamide et des issues fatales ont été rapportées .

About Metastatic Prostate Cancer And Testosterone

How Long Does It Take To Work
Casodex will start to block testosterone receptors as soon as you start to take it. However, its not known how quickly this affects the cancer cells. Each persons cancer is likely to respond slightly differently to the treatment.

Interactions With Other Medicines

Casodex For Metastatic Prostate Cancer
Casodex is approved to treat stage D2 metastatic prostate cancer. This is a form of advanced prostate cancer . Metastatic means the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, such as the pelvis, spine, ribs, or other bones.
Casodex is approved for use with a type of drug called a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analog. Both Casodex and LHRH analogs are hormone therapies for prostate cancer. They reduce the effect of the male hormone testosterone on the cancer cells. Testosterone stimulates prostate cancer cells to grow and multiply.
Casodex is a type of drug called an anti-androgen. It blocks testosterone from attaching to prostate cancer cells. LHRH analogs include drugs such as leuprolide acetate and goserelin acetate .
These lower the amount of testosterone that your body makes.
Taking Casodex with an LHRH analog helps slow down or stop the growth of prostate cancer cells.

En cas d’insuffisance rénale ou d’insuffisance hépatique légère,aucun ajustement posologique n’est nécessaire. En casd’insuffisance hépatique modérée à sévère, une accumulation peutêtre observée .

Casodex and warfarin
Warfarin is an anticoagulant drug thats used to treat or prevent blood clots. Casodex can increase the effect of warfarin in your body. This can raise your risk for bleeding.
If you take warfarin, youll need to have extra blood tests to check how long it takes your blood to clot. This test is called the international normalized ratio . Your INR will be checked when you start taking Casodex and regularly throughout your treatment. Based on your results, your doctor may need to lower your warfarin dose.
Casodex and certain drugs that are broken down in your liver
Certain drugs are broken down in your body by enzymes found in your liver. One important enzyme thats involved in breaking down several different drugs is called CYP3A4.

Do Older Adults Have More Side Effects From Casodex Than Younger People Have
Its not currently known whether younger people have fewer side effects from Casodex than older adults.
Casodex is only approved to treat prostate cancer, which is a disease that typically affects older men.
