Low Libido And Sexual Desire

Does Stress Cause Prostate Cancer? | Ask a Prostate Cancer Expert, Mark Scholz, MD

A Between Us Clinic survey found women rated low libido as the most distressing sexual disorder in their male partner. Sher says this likely speaks to the level of distress that can arise in a sexless relationship. He adds, In fact, 29 per cent of the sample said that having a partner with low libido could lead them to end the relationship, which again demonstrates the psychological importance of having a healthy sexual relationship.

Providing Your Medical History

At first, the doctor will probably ask you about your medical history. Do you have any chronic illnesses? What illnesses and operations have you had in the past? What medications are you taking, if any? Your doctor is also likely to ask about your psychological well-being and lifestyle: Do you suffer from depression? Are you under a lot of stress? Do you drink alcohol? Smoke? Use illegal drugs? Have you felt a loss of affection for your partner? Have you recently grown interested in a new partner?

As part of this health history, be prepared to tell your doctor specific details about the symptoms that brought you to the office and when they began. Your doctor might want to know how often you had sex before the problem started and if there have been weeks or months in the past when youve had erectile dysfunction. Your doctor may conduct a written or verbal screening test.

If the cause is clear a recent operation for prostate cancer, for example the conversation may move directly to your treatment options. Otherwise, you may need to answer more questions to help the doctor narrow down the possible causes and avoid unnecessary testing.

Men Who Sleep With Multiple Women ‘reduce Their Risk Of Prostate Cancer ‘

To protect against prostate cancer, take a lover – or 20.

According to a study, men who sleep with multiple women are almost a third less likely to develop the disease.

Researchers at the University of Montreal found men who have more than 20 notches on their bedpost slashed their risk of prostate cancer by 28 per cent.

And the study also revealed that men who have slept with more than 20 women reduced their chances of getting the most aggressive tumours by 19 per cent.

Celibacy, on the other hand, doubles the risk of the disease.

The research was published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology.

While the researchers said they were unclear as to why ejaculation lowers the chances of prostate cancer, they called the results particularly encouraging’.

The study followed almost 32,000 healthy men for 18 years – 3,839 of whom later were diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Men were asked about their average monthly frequency of ejaculation between the ages of 20 to 29, 40 to 49, and in 1991, the year prior to the questionnaire.

They found that the more frequently a man ejaculated throughout his life, the lower his risk of prostate cancer at all three of these points in time.

This was the case even when they adjusted their results to take factors such as diet, lifestyle and a history of prostate cancer screening into account.

At the same time, given the lack of modifiable risk factors for prostate cancer, the results of this study are particularly encouraging.

You Could Have Sexual Problems Later

It may seem odd, but âuse it or lose itâ may apply here. For women at menopause, vaginal tissue can get thin, shrink, and dry out without regular intercourse. That can make sex painful and weaken your desire. And some research says men who have sex less than once a week are twice as likely to have erectile dysfunction as those who have it weekly.

Daddy Freeze teaches men how to avoid prostate cancer

Common symptoms of BPH involve difficulty beginning to urinate, straining to urinate, dribbling at the end, and a decreased force of the stream. This occurs because the prostate surrounds the urethra and its enlargement will squeeze the urethra making it difficult to urinate.

When symptoms begin to affect your quality of life, it is time to see McIver Clinic. It is time to decide on a treatment that is right for you depending on your age and the severity of your symptoms.

Do not ignore painful or burning urination, painful ejaculation, blood in the urine or semen, frequent pain in the lower back, hips, pelvic or rectal area.

Possible complications from untreated BPH include the following:

  • Urinary retention
  • Chronic prostatitis causing chronic pelvic syndrome with pain in the lower back, groin, and tip of the penis
  • Bacteria infections

What Happens To Sperm Motility When Practicing Semen Retention

All this talk about controlling or stopping ejaculation completely, might provoke the question what happens to the sperm?

As it turns out, sperm that isnt ejaculated is simply reabsorbed back into your body.

The longer you go without any emissions, the more used to it your body becomes and starts to reabsorbs any excess semen.

And eventually, the body stops producing excessive quantities of semen.

If this is done for a long duration of time the sperm motility might be affected. And if youre planning on creating a family and get a woman pregnant, you might need to stop semen retention to build up the sperm motility again.

Is Nofap The Same As Semen Retention

What Are The Common Signs of Prostate Cancer?

NoFap is the widespread movement of completely avoiding porn, masturbation, and orgasm . Even though I think its great to get a grip on your porn addiction and excessive ejaculation habits, I dont agree with all of it. Nofap could potentially be harmful if used to suppress your sexual energy. You could dry up the power and juice as a man. Watchmy video for more info on that.

In tantra, we explain how semen retention separates between orgasm and ejaculation.

Orgasms are great and healthy, as long as it is a non ejaculatory orgasm. If you learn how to have an orgasm without ejaculating you can have the cake and eat it too.

This is achieved through the practice of conscious masturbation and tantric sex. Where you can experience multiple orgasm, male full-body orgasms, and other spiritual types of orgasms.

You May Feel Depressed

Besides reducing stress, having skin-to-skin contact with another person is a primal way we receive comfort. Sexual connection with lots of caressing and touching can help regulate mood from the release of oxytocin. If youre lacking a human touch, this can lead to emotionally low feelings. This doesnt mean that if youre a healthy person who has stopped having sex that you are going to become depressed. But it may mean you need to get out and be around people to have a sense of belonging and acceptance.

Male Infertility Linked To Higher Risk Of Prostate Cancer

Men who have had fertility treatment to assist conception in the past have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer, a Swedish cohort study has reported.

Researchers found that men with infertility were more likely diagnosed with prostate cancer in the years after fertility treatment, and were more prone to develop the disease at a young age, when compared with fathers who conceived naturally.

âThis large register-based study show men fathering children through assisted reproduction have a 30 to 60 percent increased risk of prostate cancer compared with men conceiving naturally,â said study first author Yahia Al-Jebari at Lund University in Malmö, Sweden.

She added: âSo the benefits of prostate cancer screening should be considered for this group.â

The study, published in the British Medical Journal, analysed data from all registered men who fathered a child between January 1994 and December 2014 in Sweden. Among almost 1.2 million births, about three percent resulted from IVF or ICSI .

Overall, few of the men in the treatment-group developed prostate cancer , however the risk was increased compared with the non-treatment group . This translated to a 30 percent increased risk with IVF, and a 60 percent increased risk with ICSI of developing prostate cancer compared with men who did not undergo assisted reproduction.

Symptoms Of Benign Prostate Enlargement

The prostate is a small gland, located in the pelvis, between the penis and bladder.

If the prostate becomes enlarged, it can place pressure on the bladder and the urethra, which is the tube that urine passes through.

This can affect how you pee and may cause:

  • difficulty starting to pee
  • a frequent need to pee
  • difficulty fully emptying your bladder

In some men, the symptoms are mild and do not need treatment. In others, they can be very troublesome.

If you have issues with your prostate, a general workup can include urine tests, bloodwork, and a physical exam. This exam usually consists of a digital rectal exam , where a doctor will feel your prostate from inside your anal cavity. If the prostate feels smooth and round, thats generally a sign that you probably only have BPH. Otherwise, you may need to undergo further testing, and cancer may be a concern. Men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer worry about many areas of their health. I have heard many of these questions over the years: How bad is it?, What options do I have?, and What are possible complications of treatment?

Currently, the mainstays of treatment for prostate cancer are anti-testosterone therapy, surgery, and radiation therapy. Each of these has pros and cons related to treatment success and long-term effects on the body. However, one of the most common complications for all three of these options is erectile dysfunction. We talked about how anti-testosterone therapy can affect erections when we discussed BPH treatments above. Lets now look at prostate surgery and radiation therapy.

Sex And The Prostate: Overcoming Erectile Dysfunction When You Have Prostate Disease

Is Prostate Cancer Fatal? | Ask A Prostate Expert, Mark Scholz, MD

If you are concerned about erectile function, its important to understand what erectile dysfunction really is. Failing to have an erection one night after youve had several drinks or even for a week or more during a time of intense emotional stress is not erectile dysfunction. Nor is the inability to have another erection soon after an orgasm. Nearly every man occasionally has trouble getting an erection, and most partners understand that.

Erectile dysfunction is the inability to attain and maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse at least 25% of the time. The penis doesnt get hard enough, or it gets hard but softens too soon. The problem often develops gradually. One night it may take longer or require more stimulation to get an erection. On another occasion, the erection may not be as firm as usual, or it may end before orgasm. When such difficulties occur regularly, its time to talk to your doctor.

Erectile dysfunction can have many causes, including some forms of prostate disease and medications and surgery for prostate cancer. Fortunately, in many cases, this problem can often be effectively addressed. Some men find relief by taking medications to treat erectile dysfunction. If these arent effective for you, a number of other options, including injections and vacuum devices, are available. The possibility of finding the right solution is now greater than ever.

Hare Krishnas And Celibacy

I have seen too many Hare Krishna men contract prostate cancer. Just today, I heard of a dear friend who is around my age who now has prostate cancer. I was asked if diet had something to play in this and my initial response was, Of course, diet always plays a part and I would say that too many Hare Krishnas consume too much low-quality commercial dairy.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, with an estimated 400,000 new cases diagnosed annually. Its incidence and mortality have been associated with milk or dairy product consumption in international and interregional correlational studies.

However, as I thought about this more and the fact that many of my celibate Hare Krishna friends, including swamis have suffered from prostate cancer, it led me to believe that the real issue here is these devotees are not taking care of their prostate.

Most of them live very sedate lives, not doing any serious exercise and spending hours sitting down meditating, lecturing or writing. Many of them shun exercise or hatha yoga feeling that it is something mundane. In reality, everything becomes perfected when used in Gods service. What Happens When The Prostate Enlarges

As the prostate enlarges, it presses against the urethra and interferes with urination. At the same time, the bladder wall becomes thicker and irritated, and begins to contractâeven when it contains only small amounts of urineâwhich causes more frequent urination. And, as the bladder continues to weaken, it may not empty completely and leave some urine behind, leading to a frequent sensation of having to void, having a slow urinary flow, and waking up at night to urinate.

Blocking or narrowing of the urethra by the prostate and partial emptying of the bladder cause many of the problems associated with BPH.
